Rail & Minibus Tours

The railway journey from Inverness to Strathcarron and/or Kyle of Lochalsh on the Kyle Line is one of the most spectacular in the whole of the UK and passes through some magnificent Scottish Highland scenery. It featured in Michael Palin's BBC TV series as one of the Great Railway Journeys of the World. This photo shows the line hugging the coast along the south shore of Loch Carron.

The railway journey from Inverness to Strathcarron and/or Kyle of Lochalsh on the Kyle Line is one of the most spectacular in the whole of the UK and passes through some magnificent Scottish Highland scenery. The following tours all start and finish with a rail trip on this line and John will meet you at Strathcarron, Kyle of Lochalsh (or possibly Plockton if you wish) to commence your guided minibus tour. Some suggested tours are as follows:-

Tour 5 - a spectacular day out traversing the highest road in Britain, the Bealach na Ba (Pass of the Cattle) over to Applecross, then around the Applecross Coast Road to Shieldaig, followed by the magnificent mountain scenery of Torridon. Return is via Kinlochewe and Glen Docherty to catch your return train to Inverness at Achnasheen Station. More information .....

Tour 6 - a visit to the award-winning Attadale Gardens (featuring a Japanese water garden), a visit to the spectacular Eilean Donan Castle, then over a mountain road (with superb views of the 5 Sisters of Kintail) to Glenelg Brochs. Then, over the sea to Skye via the historic Glenelg Ferry and return to the mainland via the new Skye Bridge. More information .....

Tour 7 - a day on the Isle of Skye, visiting Portree, the Old Man of Storr, Dunvegan Castle and the Talisker Distillery. Note: it may not be possible to incorporate all the suggested points of interest into one day's tour due to time constraints. More information .....
